Tasting Notes
As it approaches its tenth birthday, the 2008 Pommard 1er Cru Les Grands Epenots is beginning to reveal more aromatic complexity than the younger vintages that preceded it, bursting from the glass with a blaze of sweet red fruits, orange rind, forest floor, grilled ceps, espresso roast and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and tangy, with a deep, concentrated core of vibrant fruit and abundant but largely concealed structuring tannins. Alexandre Gaunoux suggests that the 2008 is reminiscent of the domaine's superb 1962.

About the producer
Domaine Michel Gaunoux is today run by Michel’s grandchildren, Anne and Alexandre, with a guiding hand from their mother. Everything here is extremely traditional, and the family has been quietly making rich, complex and age-worthy Pommard and Corton for over half a century.
