Tasting Notes

Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Oct 2021

This vineyard is just across the road from Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet – pedigree that shines through. Boillot’s vines are over 50 years old, lending the wine even more concentration. The nose is really expressive with zesty, pithy grapefruit and lime alongside chalky minerality. It’s long and pure with a straight line to it, yet a generosity of texture. It’s soft and silken but with great tension, the citrus fruit and chalky minerality driving the long finish.

Fine pale lemon and lime colour. An interesting bouquet with some faintly smoky notes joining the fruit. Summer flowers too. Then the classic chiselled style of this wonderful vineyard appears on the palate with a spectacular intensity of fruit to back it up, fully ripe apples, nothing lush, racy yet with volume of fruit, and length, of course.
