The 2005 Indigene is 55% Mataro and 45% Shiraz, the winery’s take on Bandol. Opaque purple-colored, the aromas include scorched earth, forest floor, wild game, blackberry, and blueberry. On the palate the wine’s youth is apparent. There are gobs of fruit and ripe tannin, great intensity and serious depth. Give it 5-7 years of cellaring and drink it through 2030.
