FINE+RARE, Apr 2024

The 2023 Langoa Barton offers a refreshing nose of dainty red-berry fruit and floral notes. On the palate, the wine is much rounder with rich fruit and lovely density. The tannins are velvety and mouth-coating, complemented by the generous dark fruit, building to a vibrant and sophisticated finish. This should be approachable before its sibling (Ch. Léoville Barton), but will age equally beautifully. Aged in 60% new oak, with 13% alcohol. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc

The 2023 Château Langoa Barton checks in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc that's resting in 60% new French oak. It hit 13% alcohol and has a deep purple hue as well as impressive notes of black cherries, darker currants, graphite, and spring flowers. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has bright acidity, and ripe, focusing tannins. It's clearly an outstanding wine, but it’s going to need time. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Blackberries, cigar wrapper, flowers, and cherries fill the nose with its aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is fresh, chewy, and Cassis, tobacco, flowers, blackberries, and red currants show easily on the nose, and palate. There is a wealth of fresh, dark red fruits, creamy tannins, and infused with tobacco, powerful tannins, and a gentle, crispness to the spicy, blackberries on the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Langoa Barton charges out of the glass with ready-to-go notes of crushed blackberries, raspberry leaves, and blackcurrant pastilles leading to nuances of pencil shavings and clove oil. The medium-bodied palate delivers compelling energy and freshness, with soft, approachable tannins and a zippy finish. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc.
