Tasting Notes
On the Pernand-Vergelesses side of the village, this site has clay-rich soils, generally producing round and plush-fruited wines. Pavelot has 0.32 hectares in the vineyard and the 2022 is a stand-out. The nose is dark and lifted – with purple florals and black cherry fruit. On the palate it is tight, dominated by its minerality and firm structure at this youthful stage, but there’s a core of lush fruit that flashes on the mid-palate, before the flinty minerality returns to drive on to a long, smoky finish.

A more elegant and spicier nose combines notes of poached plum, black cherry and pretty floral elements. There is a bit more refinement to the attractively vibrant and delineated middleweight flavors that also flash evident minerality on the lingering finish that is sufficiently structured to repay a decade plus of keeping. This isn't as dense as the Guettes but there's more finesse.
The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru has superb mineralité and terroir expression on the nose, exploiting the complexity that this noble vineyard can bring. Very focused without having to show off. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. It has impressive tension yet is controlled and harmonious through to the finish. This is going to be a great Savigny, giving years of pleasure.
