Tasting Notes
The 2022 Meursault-Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois 1er Cru had just been racked. It has one of the best aromatics amongst Leroux's Meursaults: full of vigor and tensile with light grilled walnut and almond scents. The palate is well-balanced with fine weight, a keen thread of acidity and plenty of extract towards the finish. I can see this aging well in bottle.

From vines farmed but not owned. Clear pale lemon. Ripe apples, a light lemon rinse, then a very steely core through the middle, full of energy, racy and stylish at the same time, with a fine long finish. Racked to foudre to finish its elevage.
From the top of the slope (lower elevations are planted to Pinot Noir), this delicious Meursault premier cru has retained a gratifying freshness even in this hot year, with notes of lemon peel, flint and fresh white flowers overlaid with a smoky reductive quality. The texture is lively and bright; the wine was finished in foudre on the fine lees to preserve its fresh appeal. The grapes come from Leroux’s 1.7ha of Chardonnay at almost 360m.
