2022 Bourgneuf

Tasting Notes
The 2022 vintage from Ch. Bourgneuf is a typically opulent Pomerol – with decadent dark plum, sweet spice and incense swirling in the glass. Plum compote with an edge of star anise leads on to a fresher palate, with very fine, talc-like tannins and a vibrancy to the fruit. Mineral, saline notes refresh the mid-palate, bringing a lightness that counters the wine’s concentrating, leading on to a long, savoury cedar and cocoa-nib finish.

Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château Bourgneuf never failed to impress. Checking in as 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a deep purple hue as well ample ripe cherry and mulberry fruit, notes of Christmas spice, graphite, and leather, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a great finish.
Silky, long, fresh, vibrant, and packed with ripe, black cherries, dark plums, truffle, chocolate, and spice. The wine needs a bit of time to better integrate. If it does, my score could move up. The wine blends 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc.
A rich and bold Bourgneuf, this is full-bodied and pretty with slightly dried fruit, with velvety polished tannins. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.
