Tasting Notes
Domaine Paul Pernot has the largest holding of Premier Cru Folatières – with three parcels that produce arguably the most complete expression of the site. At just 13% alcohol, Paul Pernot’s Folatières is wonderfully elegant in 2020. The nose is vibrant and pure, yet delicate – with zesty lime, crisp green apple and fleshy white nectarine, as well as more delicate florals – lime blossom, in particular. The balance between the fruit and oak (15-20% new) is à point, with a mouthful that is rounded out but not overwhelmed by the wood. The year’s juicy acidity makes the mouth water, but while concentrated there’s a lightness of touch here, with a thread of minerality running right through the wine onto the long, pure finish. The 2020 vintage is a roaring success here – with a full crop and stunning quality.

A blend of the Pernots’ various plots. The colour is pale with a light yellow tint while the bouquet indicates that this is one of the riper wines in the line-up. Plenty of punch, just a little bit of warmth but less than 2019. A minor muscat honeysuckle key, just enough to add to the charm rather than denature.
