Tasting Notes
The 2019 Pinot Noir has just 7% whole-bunch fermentation, but it adds complexity, bringing lovely grilled, herbal, savoury notes to the wine as well as a bit of texture. The savoury tones gel nicely with earthy, wild strawberry and a touch of menthol. The inclusion of whole-bunch here is quite noticeable and dictates the character of the wine.
Beautifully perfumed with lashings of red and black fruit, this offers distinctive cherry and blackberry notes on the nose. There’s a delicately sweet florality, like almond blossom, which is set off by salty liquorice and dark slate notes, as well as a hint of peaty smoke. Concentrated with good acidity, it’s exquisitely balanced and very impressive in terms of depth, length and texture

The 2019 Pinot Noir Baettig Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes from Malleco, Traiguén, was aged for 11 months in French barrels, 20% new. Fairly bright purplish red in the glass. The nose features cherry, black tea and allspice over an elegant bed of wood and damp earth. The gentle palate is voluminous with firm tannins enlivened by the acidity, which lends the wine a ruggedly distinguished character.
Crushed blackberries and dried strawberries with flowers. Wet-earth undertones. It’s full-bodied with hints of jam, smoke and black-tea flavors. Creamy, very polished texture. Flavorful finish. Drink or hold.
