The 2016 Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru was not affected by frost and was cropped at 38 to 40 hectoliters per hectare. This was matured in 70% new oak. It has a very intense bouquet with ample red berry fruit, rose petals and cold wet stone aromas, almost slate-like. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, lively and linear, fresh and crisp, not the most complex Ruchottes-Chambertin in recent years but demonstrating very fine persistence, and you can feel the mineralite tingling on the tongue after the wine has departed. This year, maybe it is not the main draw from Mugneret-Gibourg. Dec 2017, www.robertparker.com
