Tasting Notes
Made from 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as sensational notes of blackcurrants, toasted spice, cured meats and garrigue. While it starts out a touch reserved, it opens up beautifully with air and is full-bodied, concentrated and has masses of sweet tannin. This incredible barrel sample was even better on the second day, and will have more than two decades of longevity. Oct 2016, www.robertparker.com

The blend of the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud is 60% Grenache and a hefty 40% Mourvedre. Yes, it's chocolaty ripe, but it also boasts enlivening hints of thyme and rosemary along with brighter notes of cherries. The tannins are powerful yet supple, giving this big wine a sense of velvety elegance on the lengthy finish. Wow. Oct 2017, www.robertparker.com
