Tasting Notes
The 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru was picked 9-11 September at 26 hectoliters per hectare. It has a beautiful, mineral-rich bouquet; a mixture of red and black fruit, hints of rose petals and freshly shucked oyster shell. This is subtle but disarmingly elegant and the manner in which it almost melodramatically unfolds is bewitching. The palate is silky smooth on the entry and extraordinarily pure. Sure, it feels understated at first, but then it just opens it arms and fans out gloriously on its bravura finish with a tingle of spice lingering on the aftertaste. It's what you call a bit of a showstopper. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2022-2055

A gorgeously broad-ranging nose is even more floral and spicier still with its elegant, pure and cool mélange of both red and dark currant, Asian-style tea, anise, clove, cinnamon and sandalwood. The equally pure, naturally sweet, precise and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors maintain their focus from the mid-palate to the dazzlingly long and palate staining linear finish that just goes on and on. However, as silky as the palate impression is there is plenty of supporting structure and this too is going to require a very long snooze in a cold cellar before it will be completely ready for prime time. This is textbook RSV. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
This is a sensual, delicate and feminine wine .. with a temperament .. as Noblet explained when he described the firmness in the finish as the feel of Catwomans nails. In the bouquet intense and juicy fruit – pure and vibrant notes of red and dark berry fruit – more perfumed and delicate than the two Flagey wines. On the palate very refined with a beautiful core of juicy mid-palate fruit – sensual and sexy – and with a firm “bite” in the finish to contrast the silkiness and delicacy. Jan 2017, www.winehog.org
