Tasting Notes
Light, delicate nose of ripe citrus fruits, crisp green apple and pear. The palate has a delicate mousse with touches of almonds, a slight creaminess. Elegant, linear, with mineral undertones, plenty of depth with excellent balance and a finish that stays with you for some time. Very young, but drinking beautifully with lots of promise for the future. Sept 2015. Drink 2015-2030

One of the real surprises in this tasting, the 2006 Dom Pérignon comes across as very tightly wound and intense, which is probably a very good thing for its potential longevity. The sensation of tannins is quite present today. Ripe and intense but also held in check by its tannic heft, the 2006 is in no mood to show all of its cards. Stylistically, the 2006 is similar to the 2003 in its phenolic intensity, but more finessed. Readers should be in no rush with the 2006, a Champagne that has closed down quite a bit since it was first released. Jul 2017, www.vinous.com, Drink: 2026-2056
Very tightly knit. On the nose one of the most characteristic Dom Pérignons to have come my way for a while (though two much more mature examples offered a similar marriage of introversion and sensuality). Both pungently smoky and tense with some broad brioche notes as well as a suggestion of lime zest. On the palate it's quite a contrast to all the Extra Bruts I have been tasting recently! Much richer on the palate entry though there is delicate lemon-cream refreshment on the mid palate. Very fine bead and satisfying aftertaste that builds even if I'm pretty sure this aspect of the wine will become more emphatic with time in bottle. Bravo!
