A superb nose of cool, complex blue fruit. This has the same energy as Latour. Ultra pure and refined fruit. Superfine tannin with a palpable sense of vibration, leaves the mouth tingling. Wonderfully balanced, really of First Growth quality.

The deep purple 2010 Pontet-Canet has wonderful aromatics of violets, blackberries, spices, cedar, plums and cassis, and gentle seductive flavours on the palate with velvety tannins and great length. This is a multi-dimensional wine with depth to its seaMedium Lemoness flavours and amazing texture to its tannins. asianpalate.com

Pontet Canet Produced from an assemblage of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, yields were down 10% from 2009. Inky black in color, the wine stains the sides of the glass. Cassis, stone, forest floor, tobacco and cedar aromas effortlessly pop from the glass. This fills your mouth with flavor. Packed and stacked with layers of ripe, fat, plump fruit, voluptuous in style, with freshness and ripe tannins, the blackberry, blue fruit, cassis, licorice and spice filled finish grows in your mouth. winecellarinsider.com

Purple-red blood of the grape, dark as indigo to a pale cornelian edge, gives off a redolence of geranium, verbena and lime flowers. Its heavy but attractive tannin has integrated with lactescent acids, soft fruits, currants, cranberries, greengages, cherries, as well as slate and earthly minerality.Within the 2010 context of reserve, muscularity and restraint, this is more relaxed, full in mid palate, and an aftertaste of wine lees. The ambition and craft of it designers is manifested in its substantial unity, old fashion and new return to Nature and the natural. It seems almost ready to drink, but it will be better in 2020 and at its best by 2050.
