A bit of a charmer: silky, fruit and without any excess. Bravo!

Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. Wow - one of those wines that seemed to excel under blind conditions, this is a Margaux that should be taken seriously. The 2010 demonstrates a lot of extraction on the nose with liquorice infused black fruit, iodine and blueberry jam. This is on the brink of being over-ripe - but it knows the line not to cross. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry, generous and honeyed in texture, the acidity nicely judged and it builds towards a multi-layered finish that is both sophisticated and engaging. Long-term. Tasted January 2014. www.erobertparker.com
Very dark. Heady black cherry aromas. Very, very sweet. And alcoholic. And a bit drying on the end – a sort of right-bank Margaux. What’s the point? jancisrobinson.com
This wine is big and chunky with tannins that are tough and difficult to approach now. The thick texture and chunkiness is distracting from the balance of the wine. Tannins are over-extracted, lacking in refinement though flavours are loud and clear. This wine may improve substantially in bottle. asianpalate.com
