Tasting Notes
A very reserved soapy, Margaux nose with just a whiff of weedy black fruit. Super-concentrated and a HUGE mouthfull of wonderful creamy, sappy dark fruit. Very structured and hugely impressive.

I tasted 2 samples of the deep ruby 2010 Rauzan-Segla: one was very closed with a dry finish and the second was more expressive, with aromas of cedarbox, tobacco, plums and cassis, but still very restrained. Although I found the fruit lacked dimension and depth, the tannins were soft, making the wine fairly easy to enjoy and destined to be approachable at a young age. asianpalate.com
Rauzan-Segla - Only 45% of the crop was used in the Grand Vin. Produced from an assemblage of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 14% alcohol, which is slightly higher than they achieved in 2009. Alluring scents of fresh flowers, truffle, cassis and jammy black plums combine with silk and velvet textures to produce an opulent, powerful, sensuous Margaux that coats your mouth with sensations of supple tannin and intense purity. When comparing this with the highly regarded 2009, it is not a question of quality or score, it?s a matter of style. The 2009 is more sensuous, while the 2010 offers more power and lift from higher acidity. winecellarinsider.com
The 2010 Margaux, sharpened with acids, were challenging to taste so early in the first week of April. Rauzan-Segla was hardly approachable. the tannins were also accentuated but will have been diffused even within six weeks of the first tasting. Its record alcohol level was at least 13.9%. Less than half the grapes had been selected to make the medium- to full-bodies concentration. From its pelagian purple depth small red fruits, hints of wild berries, apricot and bergamot emerged unwillingly. By 2020 it will have integrated but its full measure will not be appreciated until 2050.
