Tasting Notes
One of the greatest wines of our vertical for sure, the 2004 has an absolutely magnificent nose of dark damson and rich plum. Smokey and earthy, it has a chewy mouthfeel, dense and rich, with a tightly packed structure that starts to release more and more with air. The texture is satin-like, rich and voluptuous, but with charm and elegance. Smokey minerality is just emerging; the wine still shaking off the signs of youth at 18 years old. An outstanding bottle of one of the great vintages.

The 2004 L’Apparita is a decidedly more structured, mineral-driven expression of Merlot. This superb wine is packed with the essence of blackberry liqueur, chocolate, minerals and sweet toasted oak. Made in a super-ripe style it nevertheless possesses much vibrancy as well as balance. Anticipated maturity: 2010- 2020. Jun 2007, www.robertparker.com
