Well-extracted, quite meaty fruit with good tannins, florality and slight smokiness is there, a good expression of vineyard structure and class. Drink 2015-25. Steven Spurrier, decanter.com
Plush and inviting, with rounded plum, raspberry and cherry notes backed by perfumy spice and tea. A hint of warm stone runs through the finish. Solid. James Molesworth, winespectator.com
The Château Olivier displays fine purity and delineation on the nose with ebullient blackberry, cassis and a touch of blueberry...very pretty. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins on the entry, good weight with just a hint of black olive inflecting the dark berried fruits, but just missing the persistency of its peers on the finish. Good potential though. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin erobertparker.com
About the producer
Ch. Olivier is one of the few actual castles in Bordeaux – coming with a moat and drawbridge. Since Alexandre de Bethmann took over here in 2012, the château has been given a new lease of life, with quality on the rise.
