Ch. Haut-Simard

Ch. Haut-Simard was originally part of Ch. Simard – divided in two in the late 19th century by a railroad.

About the producer

The property dates back to the 16th century, however the Vauthiers (of Ch. Ausone) took the 10-hectare estate over in 2008. Since then, they have invested significantly in the estate. The vineyard consists of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, planted at high densities (12,600 vines per hectare). Aged in a combination of oak and concrete, varying according to the vintage, it is a rich and solar style of Saint-Emilion that ages very well. It is very different in style to its sibling, Ch. Simard. The Vauthier family also owns Ch. Moulin Saint-Georges, Ch. la Clotte and Ch. de Fonbel.
