Tasting Notes
Lightly coloured, the 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes is inversely packed on the nose, almost exuberantly perfumed, but all very delicate. It is pure, with little wild red berries, floral notes led by lily-of-the-valley, with a hint of spice. On the palate, there is this intense yet beautifully integrated acidity, that surrounds ripe tannins with slightly darker fruit emerging on the mid-palate. Building up on the palate, you can see the power and density underlying the finish. This is usually one of the least approachable and earthy terroirs of Vosne but in Nicole’s hands, this is the perfect blend of power, energy and refinement, a wine in her image!
