Tasting Notes
The 100% solera-based PR 90-20 is an 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay blend, a blend of 1/3 Grand Cru reserve wine from the solera started in 1990, and that is designated for Giraud’s MV Fût de Chène, 2/3 would be from an older “Esprit Nature” solera dating to the 1950s. A completely singular cuvée from HG, and a wine and release that the most seasoned and experienced Champagne fan would be fascinated by. Inviting nose of ripe citrus, apple, hints of honey, smoke and chalky minerality. effervescent mouse, very fine bubbles, but vibrant and energetic – luxurious in texture, expansive in the palate, rich and concentrated. Core of rich, dense honied fruit, with saline, fresh minerality. Stunning release, and a release for collectors and fans of the great wines of Aÿ.

Crafted from one-third of MV's perpetual reserve and two-thirds of Esprit's perpetual reserve, the NV PR 90/20 shows brilliantly today. Evoking aromas of vanilla pod, spices, beeswax and argan, it's full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with a creamy, vinous texture and a gastronomic bitterness. It concludes with a slightly phenolic, tannic, long and superb finish.
This has so much energy and vivacity and refined, vinous character. It’s dry and focused with notes of bread crust, grapefruit, dried orange, chalk and a hint of clove. All about the tension. Long and tightly wound. 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay. One third perpetual reserve of cuvee MV and two thirds perpetual reserve of cuvee Esprit. Disgorged December 2023. Dosage 5g/L. Drink or hold.
