Tasting Notes
A very impressive showing for the second vintage from Castello di Solomeo, Brunello Cucinelli's Umbrian wine estate. Blending Bordeaux varieties with Sangiovese, the 2019 is a serious wine that is drinking beautifully already and would compete with many Super Tuscans or top Bordeaux. There's great purity of fruit – with cherries, raspberries and blackberries in abundance. With great balance and energy, it feels very sophisticated and stylish. The tannins are super polished and velvety, while there's terrific acidity, complexity and a very long finish too. While it would no doubt benefit from a few years in the cellar, it is enjoyed already, especially with a couple of hours in a decanter.
