Tasting Notes

Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

The 2022 Clos de Tart has the fleshiest nose of the range, driven by juicy, expressive red fruit, it’s almost playful. On a second swirl, it reveals further layers and facets, with floral notes, a Pinot that “pinote”, as the French would say. On the palate, the wine is multilayered, with a hint of white pepper that quickly gives way to more profound notes of ripe red berries. Its structure builds up on the palate, with velvet tannins, yet you can feel there is enough structure to age beautifully. It shows impressive balance all the way, with great interplay between the richness and concentration of the fruit and its lovely freshness. It is one of the great successes of the vintage and a wine that should reward give to eight years of cellaring before showing its full potential.
