Tasting Notes
The Clos du Roy is velvety and airy on the nose with a beautiful fruit profile. Its seductive, floral nose leads on to a palate with elegant tannins and a mineral texture. There’s a pleasing, almost zesty bitterness that cuts the suave, red berries, dark chocolate and plums. The finish is long and satisfying. The only problem, unfortunately, is that once again this cuvée was made in tiny volumes in 2021, with less than 50% of a normal crop. It will soon be hard to find – we recommend not hesitating while it’s available. This Premier Cru has always been an absolute FINE+RARE favourite and the 2021 confirms why.
About the producer
Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s most important wine producers. The family-owned estate, now in the hands of the seventh generation, is one of the largest in the region, with significant holdings in both the Côte d’Or and the Côte Chalonnaise.
