Tasting Notes
Remoissenet works with an old-vine plot (between 40 and 60 years old) on the Chassagne side of Montrachet, which has been farmed by the same family since the 1870s. To add to the parcel’s pedigree, the vines are situated right next to those of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Comtes Lafon and Jacques Prieur. Le Montrachet 2020 is very restrained at this young phase of its evolution. With the earthy tones dominating the fruit, this has brooding notes of dried earth, mineralised stone and richer toffee apple on the nose. There is fantastic depth on the palate and a lovely clarity to the delicate fruit notes with yellow apple and white peach alongside a touch of oatmeal. The wine is beautifully balanced and the tension really builds in the mouth. The crunchy minerality drives the wine, edged by savoury tones. The tautness and incredible backbone of acidity makes the wine feel incredibly dynamic on the long finish. Wow!
