Tasting Notes
Jadot's Gevrey-Chambertin Combe aux Moines is a rarely-seen Premier Cru located on the higher-altitudes of Combe Lavaux, overlooking the Grands Crus of Chambertin. Altitude and southeast-facing slopes make this wine a must go in recent warmer vintages. The nose is elegant, with lovely notes of dry rose petals, wild strawberries and a hint of spice. Medium-bodied, it is really detailed on the palate, with refined tannins and acidity driving on to a mid-palate of rich and fresh raspberries. It brings excellent tension, precision and structure which opens up on a long, savoury finish. A highlight from Jadot in 2020 (once again), this will be approachable young (as with most of the 2020s), but should reward a few years’ cellaring. Just two barrels were made. Drink 2025-2045.
About the producer
Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
