Tasting Notes
Les Folatières – a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru – offers one of the most complete pictures of this magical vineyard. Pernot is the largest owner here, with three separate plots. The 2019 captures the typicity of this vineyard in both its full-bodied, weighty fruit profile and its mineral backbone so typical of Puligny. An expressive nose of honeycomb, hazelnut and vanilla contrasts with subtle, mineral dry stone and white floral perfume. This is textbook, complex, classic Puligny. There's lovely concentration on the palate, with rich yellow apple, white peach and sultana notes. The complexity of the three parcels exhibits itself with a density and richness from the lower sites, along with a vibrant crunchy mineral salinity from the vines in the higher limestone site. This is generous and mouthwatering. It will be approachable in just a few years and age beautifully over the next 10.
