Tasting Notes
Without doubt, the Van Canneyt 2017s are up there amongst some of the best 2017s we have tasted so far. The juicy, pure, fresh fruit character combined with great phenolic resolved ripeness and sappy, well integrated tannins has produced a wonderful, mouth-watering set of red wines. There is a subtle power and intensity to his 2017s too which give the wines great charm but also a seriousness. Each cuvee has a distinct terroir transparency and expression which makes the range wonderful to taste side by side. Don't miss this opportunity to secure yourself a case of one of the most desirable wines of the range - the Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 - a favourite among Burgundy aficionados. The Griotte Chambertin is one of the finest cuvees produced by Van Canneyt this year with a complex and beautifully orchestrated palate. The wine is incredibly elegant on entry – rich, juicy yet distinctly fresh in fruit character – fresh raspberry with a distinct vinous edge and bright redcurrant fruit. The clarity and delineation of fruit is brilliant. The structure starts broad and is impressively expansive and juicy on the palate but underneath there is a tremendous linear focused core, with a stony mineral density that narrows down to a powerful finish typical of Chambertin in style. The wine has a mouth watering freshness and despite the firm core of minerality it never loses that charming juiciness. The finish has a quiet intensity and pulsing length. Superb.
