FINE+RARE Tasting Note, Feb 2017

Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru: 3-4 barrels. Cherry red in the glass. Perfumed nose, very autumnal with forest floor and a touch of smoke. Beautiful in the mouth, pure, effortlessly rich fruit - no heaviness, luxurious tannins lead to a long precise, highly detailed finish. Lasting impression of elegance, freshness and purity. Gevrey Chambertin Les Cherbaudes 1er Cru: 3-4 barrels. Dark, intense, silky look in the glass. Sublime nose, dark fruit, forest floor, real complexity. Palate is taught and muscular. Almost painfully intense, beautifully pure black fruits melt into the finest of tannins and fresh balancing acidity. Incredible length, very impressive. Gevrey Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru: 3 barrels only. Light cherry red. Seriously complex nose of smoky minerality, game and savoury, red fruit notes. Intense red fruit on the palate, excellent energy, serious yet very fresh tannins with exceptional detail and precision. Long finish, very complex but delicate and ethereal, utterly superb.
