FINE+RARE, Dec 2016
The 2014 Bussolo Barbera is brimming with rich blackcurrant fruit, soft plums, cherry jam, and a long intense almond and coffee finish. The traditionally high-acid Barbera here is rich and seductive, offering plenty of ripe fruit. The concentration (from vines planted at 0.5m apart) is already astonishing from these young vines adjacent to the Roberto Voerzio winery, where the wine was fermented with spontaneous yeasts and aged for a year in French oak up to three times used. It will continue to improve for at least another ten years, but right now it is indulgent and delicious.
