Glenrothes

The Glenrothes has a long and turbulent history involving fires and many changes in ownership. Despite this, the classic Speyside whisky distillery has become a highly sought-after single malt Scotch and long been a key constituent in the ever-popular Cutty Sark blend.

About the producer

Glenrothes was founded in 1878 by James Stuart and Co – a syndicate who licensed The Macallan 10 years prior. Despite founding the distillery, Stuart stepped aside before the build to focus on his other ventures, leaving William Grant (no relation to the William Grant), Robert Dick and John Cruikshank to run the project.
