For many, Domaine Leroy represents the pinnacle of fine Burgundy. Owned and run by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, the domaine in Vosne-Romanée is one strand of the Leroy empire, along with Maison Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay.
Bize-Leroy (born 1932) joined her father at Maison Leroy in 1955 and dedicated her time to studying Burgundy’s vineyards, developing an encyclopaedic knowledge of the region’s terroir. Her father Henri Leroy owned 50% of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) at the time and focused his energies on this venture.
