The estate rose to prominence under the tenure of brothers Nady and Charly Foucault, who were the eighth generation of their family to run the property, taking over in 1969. During a period when chemical farming was the norm, the Foucault brothers pursued more traditional organic practices. In the years that followed, the Foucaults were seen as pioneers, as more of the Saumur-Champigny region’s viticulturalists reverted to these traditional techniques.
