Laurent Ponsot was the fourth generation of his family to head up Morey-Saint-Denis’s illustrious Domaine Ponsot. He was responsible for raising the estate’s reputation to become one of the most celebrated and collected in Burgundy.
In 2017, Laurent Ponsot left his family domaine, Domaine Ponsot, to set up his own négociant business with his son Clément. Ponsot retained seven hectares of vineyards in the Côte d’Or which he continues to farm and bottle under his Laurent Ponsot label. He also sources wines from other growers in the region, producing 26 different cuvées right across the Côte d’Or. Ponsot describes his new set-up as “neither a Domaine, nor a Maison – it’s a state of mind”.
