Domaine Douhairet-Porcheret

With a history stretching back over three centuries, this property was long known as Domaine Mothélie-Douhairet. Armande Douhairet established its modern reputation and hired André Porcheret. Porcheret’s granddaughter Cataldina runs the property today – one that is now the leading name in Monthélie.

This Monthélie property dates back over 300 years, however its modern history starts in the 1970s, when sisters Armande and Charlotte Douhairet inherited the 13-hectare estate, then known as Domaine Monthélie-Douhairet. They divided the estate, with Charlotte selling her half and Armande keeping hers. Mademoiselle Armande – one of the only women in the region then to run a domaine alone – forged the estate’s reputation. She never married, and in 1989 she hired André Porcheret to make the wine.
