The château has been classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B since the Saint-Emilion classification was created in 1955, but, before the arrival of Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt as consultants in 2009, the property rarely lived up to its status – bar an exceptional 1990, which featured as one of Robert Parker’s desert island wines (earning 100 points).
