Domaine Henri Rebourseau

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.

The Rebourseau family has been making wine in Burgundy since the 18th century, but the estate takes its name from General Henri Rebourseau. He returned from the First World War in 1919 and purchased the property in Gevrey-Chambertin that the domaine occupies today, uniting its vineyards under one address. The property is impressive, with a manor house and extensive grounds. While the family had – like most in the region – long sold its fruit, Rebourseau was one of the first to start estate-bottling the wines.
