Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez

In 1994, Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza made their first wine together. This was the beginning of Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez, their joint project that looks to uncover the “real” Spain, working with old vineyards and indigenous varieties to recover the nation’s vinous heritage.

Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza met studying in Bordeaux, both inspired by working with producers such as Pétrus, Cos d’Estournel, Domaine de Trévallon and Chave. Together they started looking to uncover the Spanish wine of yesteryear – authentic expressions of its varied terroirs, making their first wine – an old-vine Navarra Garnacha – in 1994. Gradually the product grew, making wines in Aragon (from 1995), Rueda and Málaga (from 1996), Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Sierra de Gredos and Galicia. The emphasis is on the vineyard – ideally working organically and biodynamically – with native grapes.
