Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Apr 2023

Deep garnet in colour, the 2022 Ch. Feytit-Clinet offers up delicate aromas of coffee and blackcurrant that slowly reveal themselves. Rich and concentrated, blackberries and violets coat the palate with a remarkable density – giving the wine body and drive. Although the alcohol sits at 14.8%, you wouldn’t know it – seamlessly integrated, along with the tannins which gently melt away to leave a long and precise finish. The 2022 is the first vintage that Jeremy Chasseuil made with the help of his children (after snapping his Achilles tendon four days before harvest), and it’s fair to say that it’s a big success. Blend: 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc

I continue to absolutely love the wines from Jeremy Chasseuil’s tiny estate located in the heart of Pomerol. His 2022 Château Feytit-Clinet checks in as 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, pulled from 60% of the production, and it sports a dense purple hue to go with a decadent, powerful, full-bodied style in its darker currants, tobacco, chocolate, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. The tannins are substantial yet ripe and integrated, and it has a great mid-palate and outstanding length.

Deep, rich, purple in hue, the wine is packed with black plums, flowers, cloves, cinnamon, cherries, apple blossoms, smoke, and licorice in the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine shows off its sensuous, silky wealth of plums, cherries, and chocolate form the initial sip. Concentrated, rich, and creamy, with vibrancy, length and suppleness, this is a gorgeous expression of Feytit-Clinet. The wine blends 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. 14.9% ABV, 3.75 pH. The harvest took place September 5 - September 27. The yields were 33 hectoliters per hectare. This is the finest vintage of Feytit Clinet produced yet.

A firm and juicy red with lots of berries, chocolate, salt and lightly toasted wood. Some smoke. Soft tannins. Flavorful finish.
