Hungary

Although Hungary has 22 wine regions, producing almost every style imaginable, it is the wines of Tokaj that define the fine wine scene. These vibrant yet lusciously sweet wines are some of the most age-worthy on the planet.

About The wines of Hungary

The wines of Hungary

The Hungarians have been making wine since Roman times: the wine community has survived a turbulent history including more than a century of Ottoman rule, phylloxera and communism to name just three. Today, there are 22 official wine regions but the country is best known for its unique sweet wines from the town of Tokaj. (NB Tokaj is the town, Tokaji is the name of the wine.)
