A ripe and savory Brunello with dark berry, hints of chocolate powder and a long and flavorful finish. Nicely made. Not as impressive as the 2010 but excellent. Silky tannins. Feb 2016,
Tasted blind. Mid ruby with narrow orange rim. Concentrated strawberry fruit with hints of oak and cinnamon. Tightly woven palate of sweet fruit, grainy tannins and supple acidity. Classy stuff that is in need of an additional year in bottle. Jan 2016,, Drink: 2017-2026
Tilled soil, forest floor, mature black-skinned fruit, leather and a truffle note come together in the glass. The firmly structured palate presents juicy black cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon, vanilla and an earthy hint of game while assertive, close-grained tannins provide support. Give it a few years for the tannins to relax then enjoy. Jan 2016,, Drink 2019–2023.
Cordella's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a powerful and fruit-forward wine with good density and richness at the back. The wine takes a simple approach that reflects the warm growing conditions of the vintage. Dark cherry, spice, licorice and grilled herb play important supporting roles. The mouthfeel is tight and simple with extra firmness on the tannins. This wine needs a year or two to unwind. Mar 2016,, Drink: 2017-2027
