Robert Ampeau

Domaine Robert Ampeau is run by Michel following his father and grandfather's footsteps. Much of the vineyard work undertaken sets them clearly apart from neighbours such as the grass grown between rows to manage water uptake and the pruning that leaves vines precisely forty centimeters higher than their neighbors due to their old and well preserved pruning tractor. The estate only releases mature wines that are ready to drink so there is very little on the market. The estate consists of around 10 hectares with 30 years old vines and has 10 1er cru sites, 4 of which are in Meursault and others are in Puligny, Beaune, Blagny, and Savigny. Wines spend about 1 year in barrel then after springtime malo-lactic fermentation they are bottles in August or September.
