The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots includes 15-20% whole cluster fruit selected from the sorting table this year. It has a gorgeous bouquet with exquisite delineation: shimmering red berry fruit, limestone, cold gray slate aromas - very focused and tensile. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, mineral-rich red cherry and strawberry fruit, a little hardness on the finish, but that will dissipate by the time of bottling to leave a quite marvelous Suchots that will age for 15-20 years, possibly more. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2040
(from a .22 ha parcel). Reduction. Compared to the Chaumes the medium-bodied flavors possess a bit more mid-palate concentration that imparts a velvety texture to the mouth coating flavors that are shaped by already well-integrated tannins on the firm, dusty, complex and well-balanced finale. In a word, lovely Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
Les Suchots is also showing beautifully in 2015 although it’s perhaps not the ideal vintage for this slightly dense terroir (speaking of the lower part of the vineyard). The nose offer rich and ample fruit a nice minerality – with the fruit being somewhat on the darker side than the expressive Les Chaumes. On the palate rich and ample fruit, finely focused and balanced by the fresh acidity – a bigger wine than Les Chaumes – but I do prefer the energetic style of Les Chaumes. Jun 2016, www.winehog.org
